The service

Franchise Outfit is a franchise coaching service. You take the match survey, we score every brand in our catalog against your answers, and a franchise coach works with you from that first survey to a signed franchise agreement: the intro call, curated matches, introductions to franchisors, territory requests, document review and the steps in between.

Buyers pay nothing. Franchisors pay Franchise Outfit a placement fee when a buyer we introduced signs with them. That fee doesn't change the franchise fee you'd pay the franchisor, which is set in its Franchise Disclosure Document.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older and able to enter a binding contract. The service is built for people exploring buying a franchise in the United States, and for the franchisors and partners we work with. By creating an account you confirm the information you give us is true and you'll keep it current.

Not legal, financial or investment advice

Your coach gives you an experienced view on brands, territories and timing. That's guidance, not legal, accounting, tax or investment advice, and it isn't a recommendation to buy any franchise. Match scores and the figures on the site come from franchisors' disclosure documents and public filings, checked by your coach where we say so, and they can still be out of date or wrong. Before you sign anything, read the Franchise Disclosure Document in full and have your own lawyer and accountant review it. A franchise can lose money. The decision, and the risk, are yours.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens under it. One person, one account. Coach, admin and brand accounts are issued or approved by us and may require two-step verification.

What you agree not to do

Don't use the site to break the law, to pass off someone else's information as your own, to scrape or copy the catalog, to send spam or abuse through messages, or to probe or disrupt our systems. Don't share another buyer's or a franchisor's confidential information that you got through the site. We can suspend or close an account that does any of this.

Documents and the document room

Franchisors release documents to you through the document room, including their Franchise Disclosure Document. You'll be asked to acknowledge receipt before you open an FDD for the first time. That acknowledgment is recorded with the date and time, because franchise law requires a franchisor to be able to show when you received it. Documents are for your own evaluation of that brand. Don't forward or publish them. We and the franchisor can see when you open a released document.

Franchisors and partners

A franchisor that claims its listing or accepts an invitation to the brand portal agrees to keep its public listing accurate, to answer territory requests honestly, and to use an introduced buyer's information only to evaluate and talk with that buyer. The placement fee and its terms are set out in a separate agreement between the franchisor and Franchise Outfit. Partners listed under Resources are independent businesses. We introduce you, and your dealings with them are between you and them.

Our content

The catalog, guides, articles, Match scores and everything else on the site belong to Franchise Outfit or to the people who licensed it to us. Read it, use it for your own search, share links to it. Don't republish it or build a product from it. Franchisor names and logos belong to their franchisors.

What we're responsible for

We provide the site and the coaching as they are. We don't promise that a franchisor will accept you, that a territory will stay open, that a figure on the site is current, or that the site will never go down. To the extent the law allows, Franchise Outfit isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss from a decision you make to buy or not buy a franchise. Nothing here limits liability the law says can't be limited.

Ending things

You can delete your account any time from your settings. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or that we believe is being used dishonestly, and we'll tell you why unless the law stops us. The sections on documents, content and liability keep applying after an account closes.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change we update the date at the top. For a change that affects your rights we'll email you before it takes effect, and using the site after that date means you accept it.
