What happens after the offer

Signing is the last step, and it's also the start of opening. The weeks between the offer and the signature, and what stays in your portal afterwards.

The brand says yes. It is a good moment and it is not the finish line. Here is what the next few weeks hold, and what does not change.

The 14 days

Under the FTC Franchise Rule you must have had the FDD for 14 calendar days before you sign a binding agreement or pay any money. The clock started when you acknowledged the FDD in your document room. Most buyers are well past 14 days by the award; if you are not, the brand will wait, and your coach will make sure they do.

The franchise agreement

It is in the FDD's exhibits and it is the document you actually sign. Read it with a franchise lawyer. If you have not chosen one, your coach will introduce you to a partner who does this every week. Pay attention to the term, the renewal conditions, the territory protection, the transfer rules and what happens if you want out.

Funding, finally

Financing in principle becomes financing in fact. Your funding partner and the brand's team have done this many times; your job is to answer their questions quickly. Closings slip when documents sit in inboxes.

Signing

You sign, you pay the initial fee, and you are a franchisee. Your coach records the placement against your deal.

What stays

Your portal does not close. Your documents stay in your document room. Your messages with your coach stay where they are, and they stay at the other end of them through training and opening. Owners come back with questions in month three and month thirteen, and we would rather hear them than have you guess.

One request

When you are six months in, take a call from a buyer who is where you were. Item 20 will list you, and the people who helped you most were the owners who picked up the phone.

Why the intro call comes before the matches

Buyers ask why they can't see their matches the moment the survey ends. The answer is that a score without a conversation sends people to the wrong brands.

Three questions to answer before your first franchisor call

Ready to see which brands fit you?

The match survey takes about 8 minutes. Your coach reviews every match before you see it.

About 8 minutes. No cost, no obligation.

The franchisor is deciding about you as much as you are deciding about them. Three things to know about yourself before the introduction, so the call goes somewhere.
